Following its announcement earlier this year, JRPG fans will be keen to get their hands on the Chrono Cross pre-orders which are now available. The game was originally released back in 1999 and this is the first time since then that it’s received a re-released, so this is a pretty significant occasion.
Its prequel, Chrono Trigger, is often regarded as one of the best games on the SNES and when Chrono Cross was originally released, it was a PlayStation exclusive – a fact which no doubt disappointed Nintendo loyalists. Now the game is finally coming to Nintendo consoles for the first time and so fans will be wanting to get their Chrono Cross pre-orders in.
Even if you’ve still got your original PS1 copy of Chrono Cross, you might want to pick up this re-released. Not only does it include a newly enhanced soundtrack, but it also features Radical Dreamers, a 1996 Japan-exclusive Satellaview text-based sequel to Chrono Trigger which was a big influence on Chrono Cross. Excitingly, this is the first Satellaview game to be localised for the west.
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition releases digitally on April 7, with no physical release currently planned.
